This role is for the Fresno Crisis Residential Treatment Facility, a 24/7 inpatient voluntary program with a 16-bed facility for adults (ages 18-59) offering rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services, pre-vocational or vocational counseling, and medication evaluation and support services. SBHG currently employs approximately 1,900 people at more than 45 different sites throughout California and serves more than 30,000 adults, children, youth and families annually throughout the state. Requirements

  • A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
  • Must obtain valid CPR and Pro-ACT certifications within 30 days of employment.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for work experience).
  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or an associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct nursing care and supervises same provided by all nursing staff on the shift worked.
  • Makes written or oral shift assignments and plans, organizes, and directs the nursing activities of the unit, assuring quality care delivery.
  • Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing, and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition to the Program Manager and the attending physician or nurse practitioner.
  • Orders, prepares, administers, and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physicians’ or nurse practitioners’ orders.
  • Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.
  • Responsible for writing a weekly summary on clients as assigned.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate nursing documentation in the medical record for shift worked.
