This is a Full-Time Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Psychiatric Technician position within the Crisis Residential Treatment Facility. The role involves providing direct nursing care, supervising nursing staff, managing unit activities, observing and documenting client conditions, administering medications, and maintaining medical records. The facility is a 24/7 inpatient voluntary program with 16 beds for adults (ages 18-59) offering rehabilitation/recovery services, substance use rehabilitation, pre-vocational or vocational counseling, and medication evaluation and support.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED, HiSET, etc.) required
  • One (1) year nursing experience required, preferably treating the mentally ill in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for a portion of work experience.)
  • Valid California LVN or LPT license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in nursing or social science field preferred.
  • One (1) year medication administration experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct nursing care and supervises same provided by all nursing staff on the shift worked.
  • Makes written or oral shift assignments and plans, organizes, and directs the nursing activities of the unit, assuring quality care delivery.
  • Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing, and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition to the Program Manager and the attending physician or nurse practitioner.
  • Orders, prepares, administers, and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physicians’ or nurse practitioners’ orders.
  • Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.
  • Responsible for writing a weekly summary on clients as assigned.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate nursing documentation in the medical record for shift worked.
