This is a Full-Time Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Psychiatric Technician position within the Adult Inpatient Crisis Residential Unit.
Requirements
- A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
- At least one (1) year of nursing experience is required, preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting.
- (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for a portion of this experience.)
Nice To Haves
- an associate degree in nursing or a social science field is preferred
- One (1) year of experience with medication administration is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct nursing care and supervises same provided by all nursing staff on the shift worked.
- Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing, and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition to the Program Manager and the attending physician or nurse practitioner.
- Orders, prepares, administers, and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physicians’ or nurse practitioners’ orders.
- Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.
- Responsible for writing a weekly summary on clients as assigned.
- Monitors and maintains appropriate nursing documentation in the medical record for shift worked.
- Prepares, presents, and coordinates or supervises a verbal or written change of shift report.
