This position is primarily supporting immunizations, with some cross over into nursing support. Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or provider, performs routine patient care, excluding administration of IV medications, as directed by San Ysidro Health policies and procedures in a medical office or clinic setting. The role involves upholding San Ysidro Health’s policies, procedures, core values, competencies, and applicable laws. It requires performing routine patient care functions, documenting pertinent patient information, performing data collection, completing chart preparation, and coordinating duties of healthcare team members. The position also involves establishing patient care priorities, identifying and meeting patient/family learning needs, demonstrating awareness of patient/family rights and needs, and providing/coordinating care. Effective working relationships with the healthcare team, patients, and families are essential. The role includes implementing patient education techniques, performing point-of-care testing, handling clinic medication inventories, preparing and administering medications (excluding IVs), and participating in emergency situations. Responsibilities also extend to autoclave oversight, assisting physicians with patient care functions, following infection control policies, and demonstrating knowledge of safety principles. Immunization coordination, effective communication, participation in staff development, and proficiency in computer use are also key aspects. The role requires flexibility in staffing and potentially floating to other units. Customer service and patient-centered care are paramount, as is being an effective team member who is adaptable, cooperative, and accountable. Message management, including medication prior authorization, telephone triage, and telehealth support, is also part of the role. Comprehensive support for the vaccination program is a major focus, including administration, reconciliation, verification, inventory management, patient outreach, staff training, reporting, and managing vaccine excursions and emergency plans.
