Licensed Vocational Nurse
About The Position
Merakey is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join their team in Redding, CA. The LVN will provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, ensuring physician orders are implemented, medical appointments are coordinated, and continuity of care for individuals with complex medical needs. This role operates in a structured, team-based environment designed to support nurses in delivering high-quality care. The position is responsible for the overall medical needs of assigned individuals in Merakey's Intellectual Developmental Disability residential programs.
Requirements
- Active LVN license in good standing
- Current driver's license
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid California LVN license
- Valid driver’s license required
Nice To Haves
- Experience in long-term care, developmental services, or skilled nursing preferred
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered
- Monitor vital signs, blood glucose, seizure activity, skin integrity, and overall health status
- Provide skilled nursing care within LVN scope of practice
- Schedule and coordinate routine and specialty medical appointments
- Ensure medical documentation accompanies residents to appointments
- Receive, process, and implement physician orders promptly and accurately
- Track follow-up appointments, labs, and referrals to ensure completion
- Maintain accurate MARs and clinical documentation
- Report changes in condition to RN and medical providers
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies
- Assist with ADLs and other household duties as assigned
