About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in a PRN capacity plays a critical role in delivering high-quality nursing care on an as-needed basis across various healthcare settings. This position requires the LVN to provide direct patient care, administer medications, and assist with treatment plans under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians. The LVN will ensure patient comfort, monitor vital signs, and document patient progress accurately to support effective clinical decision-making. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the LVN will respond to fluctuating patient care demands and varying schedules. Ultimately, the LVN contributes to maintaining a safe, compassionate, and efficient healthcare environment that promotes positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice within the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited vocational nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nursing principles, patient care techniques, and medication administration.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to varying patient care needs in a PRN role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in acute care, long-term care, or outpatient clinical settings.
  • Advanced certifications such as IV therapy or wound care.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Previous experience in a PRN or per diem nursing role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition, reporting any changes to the healthcare team.
  • Assist with patient hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities to support patient comfort and recovery.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to implement and update individualized care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, treatments, and observations in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies, providing compassionate support and care.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with nursing best practices and regulatory requirements.
