About The Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) plays a crucial role in delivering patient care within a correctional setting. This position involves assessing patient needs, planning and implementing care, and evaluating outcomes. The LVN is responsible for executing medical and treatment plans, which includes administering medications, performing diagnostic procedures as ordered, responding to medical emergencies, and assisting with medical or minor surgical procedures. Additionally, the role requires meticulous documentation of nursing care and medication administration, as well as effective communication of patient information to healthcare practitioners and staff to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
One (1) or more years clinic experience preferred
Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state employed.
Current CPR certification
Must reside in the United States.

Responsibilities

Assist in assessment and data collection of patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions in the correctional health setting.
Plan and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with healthcare practitioners and nursing staff.
Administer medications, including daily MAT medications, and complete required medication counts and documentation.
Obtain diagnostic tests, perform labs, drug screens, EKGs, and assist with medical or minor surgical procedures as ordered.
Document nursing encounters, communicate patient information, and respond to health emergencies in accordance with policies and procedures.
