The primary purpose of this role is to provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. This supervision must align with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure the highest quality of care. This position involves administrative functions such as directing nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with facility policies, reviewing and recommending revisions to procedures, planning shift services, maintaining procedure manuals, making reports, coordinating with other services, participating in quality assurance and facility surveys, and managing resident admissions, transfers, and discharges. It also includes extensive charting and documentation, medication administration, personnel management including performance evaluations and staffing, and direct nursing care functions such as administering treatments, monitoring residents, and coordinating care plans. The role also involves staff development through training and orientation, and ensuring safety and sanitation standards are met. Equipment and supply management, as well as care plan and assessment functions, are also key responsibilities. The position requires adherence to budget and planning guidelines and involves supervisory responsibilities with delegated administrative authority.
