About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician. The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) will be responsible for monitoring patients, administering medications and treatments, assisting with daily living activities, performing basic nursing procedures, collecting specimens, documenting patient information, educating patients and families, collaborating with the healthcare team, maintaining infection control standards, responding to emergencies, assisting with patient transitions, ensuring patient safety, operating medical equipment, adhering to regulations, adapting to different healthcare settings, maintaining patient confidentiality, and building positive working relationships. Travel LVNs are expected to provide high-quality, compassionate care while adjusting quickly to new clinical environments and maintaining excellent clinical, communication, and organizational skills throughout each assignment. This position may require floating to different units or departments as needed and completing travel assignment documentation, orientation, competency requirements, and mandatory training.

Requirements

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg or Long Term Acute Care experience.
  • Proficiency in patient assessment and monitoring.
  • Experience with medication administration.
  • Experience with clinical documentation (EHR/EMR).
  • Experience with wound care and basic nursing procedures.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility policies.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter care, and other basic nursing procedures.
  • Collect specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling and documentation.
  • Observe patients for changes in condition and promptly report findings to the supervising RN or physician.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, treatments, medications, and progress in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Educate patients and their families on medications, treatment plans, disease management, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, RNs, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and follow established emergency protocols.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients.
  • Ensure patient safety by implementing fall prevention and other safety measures.
  • Operate and maintain basic medical equipment such as glucometers, pulse oximeters, and oxygen delivery devices.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, facility, and nursing practice regulations.
  • Quickly adapt to different healthcare settings, documentation systems, workflows, and policies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Build positive working relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff while demonstrating flexibility and professionalism.
  • Float to different units or departments as needed based on facility staffing requirements.
  • Complete travel assignment documentation, orientation, competency requirements, and mandatory training within required timeframes.
