About The Position

Under the direction of the RN, the LVN gathers information for assessment and reassessment of the emergency department patients and provides nursing intervention appropriate to care. The LVN practices independently within the LVN scope of practice and utilizes critical thinking skills in daily practice. The LVN serves as a mentor for emergency department technicians and maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times. The LVN demonstrates knowledge related to the care of the emergency department patient and monitors patients for changes in condition or status and intervenes appropriately in a timely fashion. The LVN uses effective verbal and written skills to communicate with people on all levels and is able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians. Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities and monitoring as requested.

Requirements

  • California Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • BLS for Health Care Providers
  • IV Certification
  • Acute Care Hospital Experience - Emergency Department/Critical Care preferred
