About The Position

At Roanoke Animal Hospital, our mission is to help pets live longer, healthier, and happier lives by providing compassionate, stress-free, premium veterinary care. We are an AAHA accredited hospital that focuses on advanced medicine, personalized services, and pet owner education. We strive to get to know our clients and their pets on a personal level. We utilize diagnostic imaging such as ultrasound, radiographs, and echocardiograms, along with laboratory services, to provide accurate diagnoses. Our veterinary office treats the immediate issue while also considering additional health concerns a pet may have. Our knowledgeable and friendly staff provides comprehensive medical examinations in an enjoyable environment. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturday: 7:30 AM – 1:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays.

Requirements

  • A licensed veterinary technician
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude team member
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
  • Some Saturday shift availability
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Positioning for dental radiographs are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
