About The Position

Scarborough Animal Hospital, an AAHA-accredited and Fear Free-focused general practice, is seeking a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join their experienced and collaborative team. This medically progressive environment offers opportunities to utilize and develop professional skills with a diverse caseload. The LVT will play a key role in patient care, working closely with doctors and the veterinary team. Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician credential
  • Proficiency in anesthetic monitoring
  • Ability to read and understand anesthetic monitoring equipment
  • Strong venipuncture skills
  • IV catheter placement experience
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A team player who is ready to perform, learn, and laugh!
  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • A current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
  • Proficiency in a range of technical skills, including nursing, surgery, dental care, radiology, and laboratory procedures.
  • A calm and efficient approach, especially in fast-paced or stressful situations.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Dental prophylaxis experience
  • Dental radiography experience
  • One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients
  • Perform and monitor anesthesia
  • Read and interpret anesthetic monitoring equipment
  • Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters
  • Assist with surgery and advanced procedures
  • Perform dental procedures and dental radiographs
  • Assist with diagnostics and treatments
  • Monitor patient recovery and provide appropriate post-operative care
  • Educate clients on patient care and treatment recommendations
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and Fear Free environment
  • Collaborate with doctors, LVTs, and Veterinary Assistants to provide excellent patient care
  • Administering treatments
  • Performing lab work
  • Guiding and supporting the medical team
  • Ensuring an efficient workflow
  • Mentoring others to help them grow their skills and careers
  • Educating clients on treatments
  • Reviewing medical records
  • Answering client questions
  • Providing feedback
  • Maintaining high standards of the hospital environment
