About The Position

Seeking an experienced Full-Time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the team at Kingston Animal Hospital. This is a dedicated 3 DVM practice with an amazing clientele. The role involves assisting veterinarians, preparing patients for surgery, monitoring anesthesia, providing nursing care, placing IV catheters, performing venipuncture, operating diagnostic equipment, supporting dental procedures, maintaining medical records, and communicating with pet owners.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with patient exams, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures while ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow throughout the hospital
  • Prepare patients for surgery and monitor anesthesia and vital signs during surgical and dental procedures to ensure patient safety and comfort
  • Provide attentive nursing care for hospitalized and recovering patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and comfort care
  • Place IV catheters, administer IV fluids, and assist with fluid therapy and treatment plans
  • Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples for laboratory testing
  • Operate diagnostic equipment including digital radiography, dental radiography, and in-house laboratory analyzers
  • Support dental procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, and dental radiography
  • Accurately maintain medical records, treatment logs, and patient documentation
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding treatment plans, patient updates, and post-procedure care
  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care and maintain an efficient hospital environment
