Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • Possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
  • Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.
  • Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
  • Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.
  • Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
  • Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
  • Comfortable with medical math.
  • Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery).
  • Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
  • Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
  • Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.
