Licensed Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine Part Time
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department. As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you will serve as a liaison between internists and clients, handling patient histories, care instructions, lab results, and patient updates through phone calls, email, and in-person conversations. The role also involves assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x-rays, and obtaining lab samples. Requirements
- Knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician
- Strong anesthesia skills
- Strong phlebotomy skills
- Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card
Responsibilities
- Liaison between internists and clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors
- Involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations
- Assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures
- Filling prescriptions
- Taking x rays
- Obtaining lab samples
- Set up constant rate infusions (CRI)
- Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.)
- Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
- Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures
- Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway)
- Clean and maintain equipment following procedure
- Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations
- Additional job duties as assigned
