About The Position

Blue Ridge Equine is looking for an Overnight Licensed Veterinary Technician with equine experience to join our fun and friendly team. Blue Ridge Equine strives to help our team members find a balance between life and work. The experienced licensed technician would have at least one year of experience in the veterinary industry, experience working with horses, have confidence working independently, and be self-motivated. They would be compassionate towards our patients, clients, and staff. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. They would be a positive team player looking to support our already amazing team and willing to continue their education. The ideal candidate needs to feel confident with proper equine handling and would be responsible for caring for and monitoring patients admitted to the hospital. They would be responsible for prepping and assisting in an emergency work up, handling horses for treatments and procedures, assisting in diagnostic procedures (ultrasound, radiograph, endoscopy). They should have comfort in placing IV catheters, assisting in surgery, drawing blood and running bloodwork, and experience with various laboratory equipment. Experience in equine anesthesia is a plus but not required for this position, as future learning opportunities are available. Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician, must have a current license
  • Must live within 45 minutes from the clinic at 4510 Mockernut Lane, Earlysville
  • Must be willing to participate in future on call rotation (Nights, Weekends, Holidays)
  • 1+ years of prior veterinary experience
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Experience with proper horse handling and restraint
  • Self-motivating and willing to work alone
  • Team player willing to learn and further their knowledge
  • Compassionate and caring toward our clients and their pet
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to run, jog, and engage in certain equine exams (lameness, etc)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in equine anesthesia is a plus

Responsibilities
