Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (VECC) is the only 24/7 animal hospital in Las Vegas with access to specialties in surgery, cardiology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, neurology, oncology, and rehabilitation. As a Veterinary Technician in our Emergency and Critical Care department, you will play a vital role in the assessment, stabilization, treatment, and ongoing care of critically ill and injured patients. Working alongside emergency clinicians and specialists, you will utilize advanced nursing skills, patient monitoring, diagnostic support, and client communication to provide exceptional care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload ranging from urgent care concerns to life-threatening emergencies while making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families every day.

Requirements

  • LVT with ER experience, or 2+ years of general practice LVT experience
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client service skills
  • Reliable and committed to high-quality patient and client care
  • Collaborative, with a commitment to long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • All current positions require the ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional fluency in other languages is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Triage incoming emergencies and help stabilize critical patients alongside our veterinary team
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized and ICU patients, closely monitoring and documenting vital signs and changes in condition
  • Perform anesthetic monitoring for emergent and critical care cases, as well as routine procedures
  • Collect and prepare time-sensitive diagnostic samples, including arterial blood gases, blood draws, cystocentesis, and urine samples
  • Perform blood typing and cross-matching to support transfusions, along with other lab procedures such as slide agglutination
  • Take and process radiographs (abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, skull) quickly and accurately while following radiation safety protocols
  • Support multiple veterinarians across emergency and specialty cases in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
  • Communicate with compassion and professionalism to clients during stressful situations, while maintaining confidentiality
