About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring a Dental Veterinary Technician in Tacoma! This role offers a $3,000 Sign-On Bonus for qualified candidates. The pay band for a Veterinary Technician (LVT) is $25.63 - $40.61 per hour, dependent on experience and advancement through the Kahuna leveling system. The schedule is Tuesday-Friday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm. This position is for a passionate technician looking to improve their skills in the veterinary field, with a specific focus on dentistry, and an opportunity to work with leading veterinary professionals. Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
  • Experience in dentistry
  • Ability to calculate basic medical math
  • Understanding of commonly used medications, associated side effects, and monitoring therapeutic response
  • Ability to administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy
  • Ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters
  • Ability to perform physical exams, including counting heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time, assessing mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort
  • Experience inducing, monitoring anesthesia, and recovering patients

Responsibilities

  • Perform oral examinations.
  • Perform dental charting.
  • Take dental radiographs with proper positioning and technique.
  • Set up and assist with dental procedures and surgeries.
  • Perform professional dental cleanings including subgingival scaling, root planning, and curettage.
  • Perform effective oral nerve blocks in preparation for advanced procedures as directed by veterinarian.
  • Calculate basic medical math.
  • Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
  • Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
  • Perform phlebotomy.
  • Have the ability to place peripheral intravenous catheters.
  • Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Induce, monitor anesthesia and recover patients.
