This role involves leadership in delivering survey projects, working with clients, optimizing processes, and ensuring high-quality results. The ideal candidate will have strong technical, management, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
  • 8+ years of experience in Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field(s).
  • Expertise in survey equipment use, configuration, troubleshooting, procurement, repair (e.g. theodolite, total station, drones, GPS/GNSS, etc..), in the field and in the office.
  • Expertise in Survey software, including but not limited to GIS/GPS, aerial and non-aerial cartography, data collectors, etc.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software, PDF software, such as Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, etc., and in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, etc.).
  • Abilities to grasp and become proficient in new software and technologies.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic.
  • Good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work productively without supervision.
  • Proactive approach/self-starter/takes initiative.
  • Ability to kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in surveying for complex properties and right-of-way issues.
  • Knowledge of land geographic information systems (GIS) and boundary law.
  • Familiarity with surveying for subdivisions, planned unit developments (PUD), and parcel maps.
  • High attention to detail, flexibility, and adaptability to work in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing work production and quality control of Roseville office surveyors and survey technicians.
  • Providing day-to-day technical guidance to survey staff.
  • Managing a variety of surveying service functions including drafting, survey support, field survey, and document control.
  • Ensuring the timely, thorough, and accurate completion of all survey services projects.
  • Ensuring survey deliverables and documentation packages are complete.
  • Maintaining project number assignments and customer documentation.
  • Responsible for project budgeting, project scheduling; and refining procedures for the survey department.
  • Performing in-office survey and mapping calculations and plans, and preparation of construction staking cut sheets.
  • Providing limited party chief services on various field surveying duties, including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA Surveys, and construction staking.
  • Performing technical survey work and mapping utilizing industry software including Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Performing limited survey field work, ensuring high quality products are produced within schedule.
  • Using the firm's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) checklists for survey deliverables.
  • Developing technical approaches, scopes and narratives for proposals and pursuits.
  • Developing cost/fee estimates for work.
  • Mining, harvesting, and capitalizing on existing client contracts, and retaining new client contracts.
  • Keeping abreast of the state-of-the-art survey techniques.
  • Maintaining good relationships with team members, sub-consultants, vendors, and clients.
  • Effectively communicating project expectations to team members and sub-consultants.
  • Acting as the liaison with project stakeholders.
  • Traveling to conduct field visits, survey activities, and consult with clients and agencies.
