About The Position

MKM & Associates is a Structural Engineering firm located in the heart of the wine country with over 35 years of experience. We offer full-service design, drafting, and collaboration across various markets including civic, commercial, educational, healthcare, historic, hospitality, residential, and winery/brewery. We are currently seeking a Licensed Structural Design Engineer to lead and contribute to a diverse portfolio of structural projects. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of project phases, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with principals and external consultants, with significant professional growth and leadership potential available.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Structural Engineer (PE or SE) in California or eligible for reciprocity.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design of residential and commercial low-rise buildings.
  • Expertise with timber, concrete, steel, and masonry materials.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering software such as ETABS and ADAPT.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing project phases from conceptual design through construction.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with Revit and Bluebeam is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop structural systems for buildings and structures using CAD and modeling software.
  • Conduct structural analysis and calculations to ensure code compliance and safety.
  • Prepare detailed construction documents and specifications.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and consultants.
  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and construction observation.
  • Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and city agencies.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets.
  • Integrate new construction methods and technologies into your design work.
