About The Position

This is a position in the Facilities Management department that requires demonstrated expertise in plant operations and licensure to operate and maintain steam systems in the relevant municipality or state. Experience in a healthcare setting will be helpful. Regardless of specialty, a Licensed Steam Operator may be required to perform other maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or assisting with other projects. Essential Functions Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the hospital's boiler and/or chiller systems. This includes performing water treatment on boilers, steam systems, chillers, and cooling towers, as well as maintaining and preparing these systems for inspections. Performs boiler and chiller teardown and major maintenance with help or supervision. Conducts activities for winterizing chillers and cooling towers, troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC digital and pneumatic controls. Ensures the cleanliness of their working area and assigned locations. Has sound knowledge of HVAC systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handling equipment, and other terminal HVAC devices.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a steam operator in the state or municipality where work is to be performed.
  • Demonstrated abilities in plant operations and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated abilities of the skills listed above
  • A valid drivers license may be required for this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
