About The Position

At Atlas Oncology Partners, we believe compassionate, psychosocial care is just as essential as medical treatment in supporting patients with cancer. We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to provide counseling and emotional support to patients and their families throughout the cancer care continuum. This position plays a critical role in helping patients navigate the psychological, emotional, and social challenges associated with diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life planning. The LICSW partners with an interdisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care rooted in empathy, collaboration, and clinical excellence. As a small nimble team, this role will also support care navigation duties to provide resource connection throughout the cancer treatment journey.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution
  • Active LICSW license in the state of Tennessee
  • Minimum of 2 years of counseling experience in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in therapeutic modalities applicable to psychosocial oncology care
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to navigate sensitive clinical situations with compassion and professionalism
  • Comfort with change, process improvement, and working in a start-up or growing organization

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Oncology Social Work (OSW-C) or similar specialization
  • Experience working with oncology, palliative care, or chronic illness populations
  • Experience leading or facilitating support groups or workshops
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred but not required
  • Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of health disparities
  • Experience with athenahealth

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling to address emotional distress, anxiety, depression, grief, and adjustment to illness
  • Deliver crisis intervention and short-term supportive counseling as needed
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Use evidence-based therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, ACT, supportive psychotherapy) tailored to oncology patients
  • Support decision-making around treatment, survivorship, and end-of-life care
  • Collaborate with oncology providers, nurses, navigators, and behavioral health team members to ensure whole-person care
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, tumor boards, and team rounds
  • Educate patients and caregivers on coping strategies, stress management, and mental wellness
  • Facilitate or support group interventions, workshops, or wellness initiatives for patients and families
  • Document all patient interactions and interventions in the EMR clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with all ethical, licensure, and regulatory standards
  • Engage in continuing education and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Support care navigation requests for patients
