About The Position

Clifford Academy provides a year-round engaging and comprehensive program focused on education, career development, recreation/fitness, and an individualized therapeutic approach. This role involves implementing individualized educational programs (IEPs) for special needs students, managing classroom behavior, participating in multi-disciplinary treatment teams, and preparing related documentation. The position offers a bonus of up to $15,000.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and knowledge in science required
  • Massachusetts Educator Licensure required
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer with the ability to learn new software applications

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Education or a related field preferred
  • Special Education license desired
  • Previous experience working in education and/or with program specific population highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing individualized educational programs for assigned students, including curriculum and specific lesson plans consistent with agency guidelines.
  • Research and collect educational resource materials, and provide individualized academic instruction to students.
  • Implement behavioral management program within the classroom, maintaining knowledge of facility/agency behavior management principles and procedures, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training.
  • Participate in the application of the behavior management system, including crisis intervention, use of restraints when required, processing with students during incidents, and teaching social and emotional skills.
  • Participate as a member of student/client multi-disciplinary teams, providing information on educational progress and receiving guidance to achieve treatment, behavioral, and educational goals.
  • Meet and maintain liaison with collateral staff as required and serve as a student advocate.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and neat classroom environment.
  • Provide monitoring and coverage as needed in the program, which may include monitoring lunch, recess, halls, and/or chaperoning on field trips.
  • May serve on department, facility, or agency committees as appropriate.
  • Communicate with and involve families in the educational program of each student; assist in the implementation of appropriate family activities in the program.
