About The Position

Intermediate District 287 is seeking a Licensed School Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year to serve students in grades K-12 and transition-age students (18-22 years old) from 12 member districts. The district offers a variety of services and specialized programs, with a focus on Setting IV special education, to meet diverse student needs. Intermediate District 287 is committed to an inclusive and supportive environment, utilizing a trauma-informed approach, and providing comprehensive support services with small class sizes (6-8 students). The district values diversity and aims to hire and retain racially diverse and conscious staff.

Requirements

  • Advanced Degree in counseling or closely related field from an accredited college or University.
  • School Counselor’s License issued by the Professional Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB).

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling services to students in grades K-12 and transition-age students (18-22 years old).
  • Work within a Setting IV special education framework.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team including School Social Workers, Psychologists, Behavior Intervention Specialists, and Student Safety Coaches.
  • Implement a trauma-informed approach in student interactions.
  • Support student success through meaningful relationships and individualized care.
