Licensed Psychiatric Technician
About The Position
AvaMed Workforce is seeking a Licensed Psychiatric Technician for a Full-Time assignment at a correctional facility in Ione, CA. This role involves providing basic general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth. The technician will conduct daily clinical rounds, administer medications and treatments under supervision, and collaborate with a treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans. Responsibilities also include assisting in therapy regimens, liaising with custody personnel, observing patient behavior, coordinating appointments, assisting with first aid and CPR, maintaining documentation, and contributing to a safe and therapeutic environment.
Requirements
- Must have a valid California Board of Psychiatric Technician License in order to perform services in the State of California.
- Must have 1-full year of experience as a licensed professional.
Responsibilities
- Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth.
- Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patient /youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness.
- Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure.
- Work with other disciplines as part of Treatment Team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments in providing an overall treatment program for patient/youth.
- Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patient/youth.
- Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in management of mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth.
- Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes.
- Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patient/youth present at their clinical appointments.
- Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed.
- Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required.
- Help to create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patient/youth.
