About The Position

The Mental Health/Substance Abuse LPC will be responsible for providing mental health and substance abuse treatment services in an outpatient facility. Provide services within the following settings: IOP, PHP, and Ambulatory services. Provide clinical assessment and psychotherapy services for a defined patient population, where services are provided to patients, families, and/or groups. Position provides treatment in one or more of the following areas: substance abuse, emotional and behavioral issues, eating disorders, and other mental disorders outlined in the ‘Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders’ (DSM).

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in the mental health field.
  • Must possess a license from the State of Tennessee Mental Health Professions Licensing Board that allows for the independent practice of Clinical Services.
  • Must maintain a professional license and stay current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed in registration), valid and unrestricted.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical assessments, treatment, case management, consultation, referral and education according to the individual’s professional discipline.
  • Services shall be provided in accordance with the established Tennessee Mental Health and Substance Abuse Standards as well as within the scope of practice of the individual.
  • Supervise all students, BSW’s, and MSW’s.
  • Conduct psychosocial evaluations and provide therapeutic interventions such as direct psychotherapy, including crisis counseling to individuals, groups, and families as needed to facilitate.
  • Coordinate all aspects of patient care from admission to discharge, interacting with the physician and other members of the clinical treatment team to provide quality patient care.
  • Monitor patients on an ongoing basis to continually assess needs and facilitate treatment and interventions.
  • Maintain case records to reflect course of treatment and provide required documentation.
  • Document clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment plan, diagnostic summaries, and progress charting in a timely manner to assure comprehensive and quality patient care.
  • Evaluate the individual and family systems as well as assess a client’s functioning within work, family, and routines of daily living and identify areas needing continued support, resources, and treatment in order to assist clients.
  • Provide education and orientation for patients, families, and others assigned to treatment program to aid in therapeutic process.
  • Collaborate with the patient in the development of a written or electronic treatment plan.
  • Include patient and family involvement in assessment, treatment, education, and discharge planning.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain partnerships with other community providers.
  • Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services as needed.
  • Coordinate with community-based providers to assure optimal levels of care post discharge and to maximize treatment outcomes.
  • Actively participate as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and maintain effective working relationships with physicians and peers.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and other activities, which ensure the smooth functioning of clinical operations.
  • Accurately code counseling sessions, group sessions, and all other counseling involving IOP/PHP
