About The Position

The Licensed Professional Counselor role within the Emergency Psychiatric Access Team offers a unique chance to become part of a dynamic, collaborative interdisciplinary team. This position adds value to patient care and significantly assists individuals with various issues. We currently offer an opportunity for a Full Time, Day/Night, LPC to support patients with mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from accredited school of Counseling Required
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) (Required)
  • Attainment of LPCC status is encouraged with one year of eligibility. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrates ability to interact professionally with physicians, nurses and other members of the healthcare team. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrates ability to apply theoretical and clinical knowledge in delivery of care. (Required proficiency)
  • Multi tasks and prioritizes work. (Required proficiency)
  • Performs autonomously as a professional. (Required proficiency)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. (Required proficiency)

Nice To Haves

  • Hospital/Health Agency experience (Preferred)
  • LPCC status within one year of eligibility (Preferred)
  • The ideal candidate will be autonomous, reliable, a critical thinker, have a crisis background, have strong passion for the psychiatric population, and be a self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Provides psychosocial assessment / intervention to assist patients/families (including clinically complex).
  • Communicates/collaborates with the work team using a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Provides linkage to community resources to facilitate optimal care.
  • Provides age specific care to patients/families in all age groups.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive plan based on identified psychosocial needs and/or discharge needs.
  • Maintains a current working knowledge of UH network services and promotes utilization of such services.
  • Provides guidance and serves as consultant to staff and other disciplines regarding complex psychosocial and/or discharge planning issues/barriers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
