About The Position

The Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) provides professional mental health counseling services to individuals, families, and groups experiencing emotional, behavioral, social, or psychological challenges. The LPC conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, provides therapeutic interventions, and collaborates with healthcare providers and community resources to support patients' overall well-being. The counselor promotes mental health, crisis intervention, and behavioral health education while ensuring compliance with professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
  • Current Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license in good standing.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioral health assessments, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Must have previous counseling experience with strong clinical skills with adults, children, and adolescents and knowledge and experience in family systems
  • Strong knowledge of different counseling methodologies and techniques, and trauma informed treatments and evidence-based models
  • Must have strong clinical and assessment skills, cultural competence and basic casework skills with referrals and advocacy
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking and effective use of time
  • Able to handle and complete multiple tasks or projects with multiple deadlines
  • Able to deal professionally, courteously and efficiently with public and all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years of counseling experience preferred.
  • Experience working with underserved, uninsured, and culturally diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and behavioral health assessments.
  • Conducts trauma informed care to Human Trafficking survivors.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group counseling services.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions for anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and other behavioral health concerns.
  • Conduct crisis intervention and risk assessments, including suicide prevention and safety planning.
  • Coordinate care with medical providers, social workers, community health workers and community partners.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and available resources.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care team meetings and case consultations.
  • Assist with referrals to psychiatric services, community agencies, and social service resources as needed.
  • Provides brief, same-day consultations.
  • Utilizes behavioral health screening tools as part of patient care.
  • Conducts appropriate discharge of patients.
  • Performs case management duties as necessary.
  • Participates in community outreach and community presentations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and supervision.
  • Ensures delivery of medical care in accordance with the Catholic Moral and Ethical Directives.
  • Follows all HIPAA, OSHA, and licensing guidelines, regulations and code of ethics.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information/records at all times.
  • Stay informed about developments in the mental health field.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards in counseling practice.
  • Maintains established San José Clinic policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
  • Implements job responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with the San José Clinic Mission and Code of Conduct and is supportive of San José Clinic cultural diversity objectives.
