About The Position

Samba Recovery is a detox and recovery clinic serving adults and families in Jonesboro, Georgia. We are committed to providing compassionate, clinically sound, recovery-focused care for individuals affected by substance use disorders, mental health conditions, trauma, and co-occurring disorders. We are seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to join our clinical team and provide mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, psychotherapy, assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, and recovery-support services in a multidisciplinary treatment environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field meeting Georgia professional counseling licensure requirements.
  • Active Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license in good standing.
  • Associate-level license may be considered only when consistent with job classification, supervision, payer, and facility requirements.
  • Experience working with mental health, substance use, and/or co-occurring disorder populations preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria, DSM-informed assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, discharge planning, and ethical clinical documentation.
  • Ability to provide individual, group, and family therapy within Georgia LPC scope of practice and agency policy.
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, documentation, and clinical judgment skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in inpatient detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, outpatient behavioral health, crisis stabilization, or community mental health.
  • Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, relapse-prevention counseling, and 12 Step/recovery-support approaches.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record documentation systems and multidisciplinary treatment-team workflows.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Commitment to ethical, trauma-informed, client-centered, and recovery-oriented care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, substance use screenings, risk assessments, and level-of-care reviews using ASAM criteria as applicable to the program setting.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans, relapse-prevention plans, recovery goals, discharge plans, and continuing-care recommendations.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling or therapy for adults and families experiencing substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and co-occurring disorders within the provider’s scope of practice.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational, process, coping-skills, relapse-prevention, trauma-informed, life-skills, and recovery-oriented groups, including groups informed by 12 Step principles and other recovery support models.
  • Monitor client progress, clinical presentation, withdrawal-related needs, safety concerns, treatment engagement, and response to interventions; adjust interventions as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, de-escalation, relapse-prevention support, and referral or escalation to emergency or higher levels of care when clinically indicated.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, case managers, peer support staff, medical providers, families, courts, referral sources, and community resources to coordinate care.
  • Educate clients and families on addiction, mental health, co-occurring disorders, coping strategies, medication adherence as applicable, recovery resources, and aftercare planning.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with agency policy, Georgia requirements, payer standards, accreditation standards, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 as applicable, and professional ethics.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, treatment team meetings, staff meetings, utilization-review support, quality-improvement activities, and ongoing professional development.
