About The Position

Provide direct practical nursing care to patients in a healthcare setting under the direction of registered nursing staff. Deliver safe, compassionate care while contributing to documentation and care planning.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized practical nursing diploma or certificate program.
  • Current registration or licensure to practice as a practical nurse in the applicable Canadian province or territory.
  • Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in acute care, long-term care, community, or similar healthcare settings.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting and transferring patients as needed.
  • Effective communication skills in English or French as required, and basic computer literacy for electronic charting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and monitor patient health status by taking vital signs, observing condition, and reporting changes to registered nurses or physicians.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols and documented care plans, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Perform wound care, catheter care, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice and facility policies.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including mobility support, bathing, dressing, and feeding when required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, update charts and electronic health records, and provide thorough handover at shift changes.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to implement care plans and provide patient and family education.
