About The Position

Kako'o Services is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care within their scope of practice at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. The role involves assisting with orthopedic clinic procedures, patient flow, and ensuring adherence to infection control and aseptic techniques. The LPN will respond to emergencies, accurately document patient care, and maintain medical records. Proficiency in systems such as MHS Genesis, Essentris, and CIS is required. Effective communication with healthcare providers and team members is essential, as is supporting and training junior staff. Participation in peer reviews, performance improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and trainings is expected. The LPN must ensure compliance with DoD and MTF policies, Joint Commission standards, and maintain patient safety, rights, and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program (ACEN, NLNAC, CCNE, or equivalent military program)
  • Current, active, unrestricted LPN/LVN license
  • Valid in any U.S. state or territory
  • At least 1 year of LPN experience
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must meet all health and immunization requirements
  • Ability to complete DoD/MTF training and orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hospital, outpatient, or acute care setting
  • 6 months – 1 year of orthopedic experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within scope of LPN practice
