About The Position

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a full-time, union position within a non-profit organization operating a network of federally qualified health centers. Requirements

  • Certificate of completion from a practical nurse course of study.
  • Current New York State LPN license and registration.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • Current Infection Control Certificate.
  • Current Child Abuse Certificate.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience working within an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications including immunizations.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills including typing.
  • Demonstrated competency in performing treatments and procedures.
  • Proficient in performing EKGs, phlebotomy, IV insertion, and Foley catheter insertion/removal.
  • Demonstrated clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize care and activities of multiple patients.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, quality patient care and services under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Collaborate with care team members to achieve goals.
  • Perform treatments and procedures with demonstrated competency.
  • Assist patients with respiratory needs, including aerosol and inhalation treatments, and encouraging coughing and deep breathing.
  • Perform oral and endotracheal suctioning.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures and treatments.
  • Insert and remove Foley catheters.
  • Perform EKGs.
  • Perform phlebotomy for blood collection.
  • Insert IVs and maintain the line.
  • Assist patients with and reinforce the use of therapeutic equipment (e.g., incentive spirometer, hot and cold packs).
  • Perform patient preparation for procedures.
  • Prepare and administer medications and observe patients' response, demonstrating knowledge of action, dosage, and side effects.
  • Safely administer any medication allowed by N.Y. State law and in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, height and weight, and head circumference.
  • Collect specimens and document findings.
