About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient-centered Licensed Practical Nurse (85%, 34 hours per week) to work at the UICC River Crossing Family Medicine Clinics. This position will primarily support Family Medicine Clinics but may also float to other patient specialties/clinic locations, including Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics. The role involves providing nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, participating in the development of nursing care plans, and implementing therapeutic programs for patients. In less complex situations, the LPN may supervise assigned nursing personnel, and in more complex situations, will assist the registered professional nurse. Requirements

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.
  • Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.
  • Medical Terminology

  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Epic experience
  • Minimum 1-year ambulatory experience
  • Previous Phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic program for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel.
  • In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
  • Functions as a member of the patient care team.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.
  • Staff will support our Family Medicine Clinic patients.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.
