The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This role involves demonstrating knowledge of nursing principles, competency within the full scope of nursing expertise, and utilizing age and population-specific standards. The LPN will perform testing to evaluate resident status, recognize and respond to problems, and ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents. Responsibilities include contributing to resident assessments, administering medications and treatments, providing technical support, documenting interactions and outcomes, and counseling residents and families on prevention and treatment plans. The role requires effective collaboration within an interdisciplinary team and clear communication while maintaining confidentiality.
