About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse works in the Skilled Nursing department at Resurrection Village Life Center in Chicago, Illinois, on a rotating PRN schedule. The role contributes to patient assessment by collecting data for analysis by a Registered Nurse, administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactions, educates patients and families about treatment plans and follow-up care, and helps assure resident safety by identifying hazards and responding to emergencies.

Requirements

• Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse licensure obtained before the hire date or job transfer date.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience. Required professional licensure/certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to patient assessments by collecting data for analysis by a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
• Educate patients and families about disease treatment plans, including post-discharge self-care, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care.
• Assure resident safety by identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
