About The Position

Inova Health - Cardiology is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 2 for a full-time, day position. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role supports outpatient cardiology care by coordinating referrals and follow-up, administering prescribed medications and treatments under a physician’s direct supervision, communicating with patients and the healthcare team, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Requirements

• Vocational/Technical Diploma in Practical Nursing.
• Licensed Practical Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Two years of nursing practice in a hospital or clinic setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates referrals for patients with chronic care conditions and follow-up care as indicated by the initial care plan from a specialist and/or primary care physician.
• Administers prescribed oral and intramuscular medications, therapies, and treatments according to practical nursing standards and under the direct supervision of the physician.
• Communicates effectively with healthcare team members, patients, and families; supports team members in achieving team goals and assigns appropriate tasks to care assistants.
• Maintains and reviews patient medical records, notes, and physician orders; documents patient care activities according to documentation standards and legal requirements for medical facilities.
