About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Health Care, has an opening for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Rock County Jail in Janesville, Wisconsin. This is a PRN position with day and night shifts available, offering a $3.50/hr night shift differential. Full-time employees are eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus after 90 days. Requirements
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
- Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment.
- Possesses an active CPR certification.
- Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
- Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
Responsibilities
- Delivers quality care consistent with the scope of practice for Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses as outlined by the state nurse practice act.
- Performs tasks, activities, and functions as delegated and may assign duties to others as defined by the state of practice act.
- Provides monitoring of patients as directed by the HSA, DON, RN, or Medical Director or other practitioner.
- Utilizes a systematic approach to meet the health needs of each individual patient.
- Implements nursing care within the LPN’s scope of practice, including compliance with all applicable laws.
- Assists in the development and implementation of teaching plans for health promotion, maintenance, and restoration.
- Cares for wounds with appropriate cleaning and dressing/bandaging.
- Administers medications to offenders.
- Provides care for multiple patients as directed by the Medical Director, DON, or Registered Nurse.
- Monitors vital signs and reports changes to appropriate medical staff.
- Documents actions in the MAR and medical records.
- Performs other nursing duties as assigned by the facility.
