About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists the Registered Nurse (RN) in assessing each patient's needs and problems and planning appropriate, specific care. Under RN supervision, the LPN administers medications and assists the Physician Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), and Psychiatrist in coordinating and implementing patients’ medical and psychiatric care. This position is on the Children and Adolescent Unit at MHRC North and is scheduled every Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Requirements

Valid State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse license.
Six months of nursing experience as an LPN, or two years of patient care experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Ability to make sound decisions independently and demonstrate good judgment, including recognizing and responding appropriately to emergencies and life-threatening situations.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact appropriately with internal and external customers.
Background screening and clearance through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

Assist the RN in assessing patients’ needs and problems and planning appropriate, specific care.
Administer medications under the supervision of the RN.
Assist the PA, ARNP, and Psychiatrist in coordinating and implementing patients’ medical and psychiatric care.
Make sound independent decisions and use good judgment, including recognizing emergencies and life-threatening situations and responding appropriately.
Communicate appropriately with internal and external customers, including families, caregivers, community service providers, supervisory staff, and other department professionals.
Maintain complete and confidential clinical records by ensuring documentation, paperwork, and system entries meet applicable guidelines for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
