About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is continuously responsible for providing professional nursing services, according to qualifications and training, and non-professional services as directed. The LPN is directly responsible for performing patient care functions according to established standards, policies, and procedures. This role provides clinical and administrative support under the direction of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Nursing Supervisors. The LPN will effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care through data gathering, planning, and evaluation. They will communicate effectively and professionally with all patients, guests, family members, and co-workers to ensure a quality patient experience and work collaboratively with providers within the team setting to facilitate quality care for the patient. The LPN will assist providers with patient assessment, examination, and treatments, and adapt to rapid change in a positive manner throughout the day as the needs of the clinic change. Maintaining a clean and safe environment by sterilizing equipment, reporting unsafe/hazardous conditions, and defective equipment is crucial. The LPN adheres to all clinic infection control, hazardous waste, and pharmacy protocols, and maintains a well-stocked patient care area, notifying appropriate departments to replenish stock as necessary. Documentation of patient care, observation, and activities according to professional standards and procedures is required, as is maintaining confidentiality regarding patient and business functions of the organization. The LPN will respond to patient inquiries via telephone or in person, follow up with patients on lab results, including scheduling of any additional tests, and maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials. Compliance with organizational and departmental established policies and procedures, and attendance at required organizational educational in-service meetings and departmental functions are expected. The LPN may be required to float to other clinics as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing is required.
An active and unrestricted license to practice in the state of Louisiana as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required.
BLS certification is required.

Frequently position self, such as bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, or twisting to retrieve and maintain equipment, assist patients, provide patient care, etc.
Ability to communicate information accurately so others will understand
Ability to hear and respond to telephone calls, alarms, and normal office conversations
Visual acuity sufficient to read medication labels, printed documents, computer screens, and handwritten materials
Frequently move, lift, push, or pull etc. items such as wheelchairs, boxes, equipment, patients, etc. weighing up to 50 pounds for various needs.
