About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) contributes to patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the supervision of registered nurses. The LPN provides direction and guidance in patient education and activities consistent with their education and demonstrated competencies. The role supports patient care in Health Care Unit and housing-unit settings, carries out treatment programs, and works with nursing staff, physicians, and other personnel to provide quality care. The position is available only to people who reside in the United States.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Maintain current Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the state of employment.
• Be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
• Reside in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of one year of clinic experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social dimensions in Health Care Unit and housing-unit settings; contribute to individualized treatment planning and consult with RNs and staff as needed.
• Implement treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administer medications (including IV therapy if certified), and perform diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures.
• Collaborate in controlled-substance counts at the beginning of each shift.
• Follow safety techniques, procedures, and standard precautions, and respond to codes or health emergencies within standard guidelines.
• Assist with medical or minor surgical procedures and implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans.
• Document nursing encounters using SOAP charting and communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel.
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, and follow policies and procedures while providing patient care.
