About The Position

This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team. The LPN works cohesively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process is individualized and ongoing, addressing the changing needs of residents. The role ensures residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures, and provides support to residents, their family, and visitors during the resident’s end-of-life journey, enabling choice, dignity, privacy, respect, and individuality. The position requires modeling the organization's mission, vision, and values, and collaborating effectively as a professional team player.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program required
  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required
  • Current CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency required
  • Strong critical assessment skills
  • Exhibits open and sincere approach to relating to people by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally
  • Recognizes and responds effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues with exceptional active listening skills
  • Ability and knowledge to work in a continuing care setting and the ability to deal with difficult behaviors
  • Ability to cope with frequent changes such as daily routine, workload, shifts and resident needs and possess exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills
  • This position requires you to be vaccinated against all required communicable diseases under Covenant Care’s OHS policy
  • All employees new to Covenant Care must provide a criminal record check not older than 3 months ahead of your commencement date.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team.
  • Working cohesively with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, such that changing needs of residents are addressed and met.
  • Ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures.
  • Providing support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality.
  • Modeling the organization's mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively.
  • Collaborating effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
