About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) participates in implementing and evaluating patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. This position is based in the Pediatrics department at Sanford Health’s Aberdeen Clinic and works alongside a provider in a family-focused clinic environment. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; the position includes one weekend day shift approximately 5–6 times per year and no holidays. Cross-training to another specialty is available.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Hold an unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with a State Nursing Board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
If IV therapy or management skills are required in North Dakota, graduate from a Board-approved AASPN program that includes IV therapy in the curriculum or complete an IV Therapy course approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of patients.
Document thorough medical histories from patients.
Contribute to patient assessments.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
Counsel patients and family members on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse.
Demonstrate competency, practice within the full scope of nursing expertise and knowledge, and use appropriate age- and population-specific standards for the assigned clinical setting.
