About The Position

The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional, participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice. This role performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures, and may provide specialized nursing care specific to the practice area. The LPN collects patient data, including vital signs, observations of patient condition, and responses to treatment, and reports findings appropriately. They prepare and administer injections, perform routine tests, treat wounds, and change dressings. Maintaining accurate patient records using established documentation practices and electronic medical record systems is crucial. The LPN administers medications within the scope of licensure and monitors patient responses to treatment. They participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and applicable federal and state regulations, monitoring and documenting treatment progress and patient outcomes. Additionally, the LPN educates patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic illnesses. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes is expected. The role also includes performing IV therapy, blood draws, laboratory testing, and related documentation as permitted by licensure and certification. Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing program.
• Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the applicable state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, as required by the position.
• IV certification may be required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working within an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
• Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
