About The Position

Looking for a nursing job that provides the perfect Work/Life Balance? Our LPN's work Three (3) 12-hour shifts each week. We provide a set, two-week block schedule that allows our nurses the ability to easily plan their day to day activities while enjoying a rewarding career caring for America's Heroes! We offer two shifts: Day Shift 0600-1830 and NOC Shift 1800-0630.

Requirements

  • A current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Nebraska or authority based on the Nurse Licensure Compact to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Nebraska is required.
  • Knowledge of licensed practical nursing theory and practice, principles and techniques of patient care and treatments, medication and medication administration procedures and practices, and care and use of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to evaluate nursing needs and to exercise competent judgment.
  • Ability to evaluate patient behaviors, symptoms, and effects of medications.
  • Ability to plan and monitor work of direct care staff.
  • Ability to apply proper body mechanics for heavy lifting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in exact detail.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records, charts and reports.
  • Ability to maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and push/pull occasionally up to 75 lbs. on a daily basis.
  • Ability to frequently bend at the waist and neck and frequently twist at the waist and walk or stand up to 90% of the shift.
  • Ability to interact with members and others in a positive manner and be flexible to meet changing demands of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in gerontological nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Observe, evaluate, and chart patient's behaviors, symptoms, reactions to medications, diet, the environment and patient needs.
  • Respond to patient's calls and/or requests.
  • Prepare and administer therapies and/or treatments such as rehabilitation activities, dressing wounds, or other skin or breathing treatments.
  • Document care activities in patient's medical record.
  • Collect lab specimens.
  • Administer medications, chart time given and amounts on patient records; be aware of potential and actual adverse medication reactions and respond appropriately.
  • Assist or collaborate with Registered Nurses in developing nursing care plans; assist in implementing care plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to provide input into patient care planning.
  • Interpret care and treatment plans and approaches to other personnel.
  • Review charting, evaluate and report patient care to proper persons; keep necessary records.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, tests, or physician visits.
  • Monitor direct care staff; assist in training and educating direct care staff.
  • Act as assistant to charge nurse when necessary.
