About The Position

This is a professional nursing position with primary orientation in the physical and psychosocial health care of individuals. This position serves as a professional nurse to assist the Outpatient Psychiatrist, therapists, and individuals in Clinical Services Unit (CSU). Works closely with CSU psychiatrists in providing practical nursing duties. Assesses and observes the individual's emotional and physical response to medication and treatment. Communicates information to the individual's health care provider, their Pharmacy, families, caregivers, and other Providers involved with the individual. Communicates doctor's orders to individuals between appointments as needed. Ensures that required documentation and paperwork are completed according to Agency documentation guidelines. Provides direct psychiatric nursing care to individuals in order to provide individualized, goal-directed care. Works closely with, CSU Psychiatrists and Tele-psychiatrists in providing medical nursing duties. Provides appointments for medication injections as directed by the Psychiatrist. Assists individuals with treatment plan completion, obtaining vital signs, updating medications in the Electronic Health Record (E.H.R.) and assisting with medication refills as directed by the Psychiatrist. Conducts initial and ongoing assessments for psychiatric care. Completes appropriate referrals as identified during the assessment process. Participate in educational programs to maintain and improve professional growth and development. Aids during medical emergencies occurring at the agency. Provides oral and/or written communication to CSU staff, peers, treatment team, and Supervisor. Assists in the orientation and education of new CSU staff. Participates in treatment planning and the Quality Assurance Program. Maintains a therapeutic environment and assists individuals to reduce, alter, or eliminate emotional, social and/or physical disabilities which may limit the individual's ability to function. Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited practical/vocational nursing program.
  • Hold a current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
