About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse performs responsibilities that are supportive and/or restorative under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. Provides nursing care to an assigned group of patients, and administers medications and/or treatments upon demonstration of ability in accordance with policy of the Hospital.

Requirements

• Graduate of accredited nursing program(s).
• Demonstrates competence and experience in nursing within the limits of preparation and legal scope of practice.
• Critical thinking, math, and computer skills; Works as a team player.
• Demonstrates respect and professionalism in all interactions.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.
• Decision making and problem solving.
• Able to read, write, see and hear English.
• Ability to fully utilize OBH's electronic record systems.
• Licensed and currently registered as a Practical Nurse in NYS.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care
• Performs tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Registered Nurse as related to: Hygiene and physical comfort, Medical treatments and selected nursing interventions, Nutritional needs, Ambulation and exercise, Elimination, Patient safety
• Administers medication as assigned
• Performs CPR
• Takes vitals
• Transports patients
• Prepares patients for tests and procedures
