Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Active LPN license in the state job is held
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to keep patient information confidential
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Teammates working in a Colorado Residential Child Care facility (RCCF) must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age or at least eighteen (18) years of age and work directly under the supervision of a teammate over twenty-one (21) years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience working with in the mental health field
  • IV skills/certification
  • Knowledge/experience with nasogastric tubes

Responsibilities

  • Provide and assist in direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, APP, or physician.
  • Provide medical management of patients.
  • Assist with environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population.
  • Demonstrate performance consistent with the Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan of the organization.
  • Demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
  • Treat coworkers, patients, families and all members of the health care team with dignity and respect.
  • Partner with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.
  • Cross-train across ERC and Pathlight and may be required to float or be assigned to other locations/facilities within the Region.
  • May be required to work on-call shifts based on business needs.
  • Perform all nursing care within scope of practice to assigned patients under the supervision of an RN, APP, or provider.
  • Manage patient assignment within assigned shift.
  • Perform and document vital signs, responses to treatment, education and nursing care and assists with other basic medical care tasks assigned.
  • Report abnormal changes in patients or patients’ health and mental status to RN or provider in a timely manner.
  • Receive, place and document provider orders/communication in a timely manner using approved abbreviations.
  • Effectively label, collect and process patient specimens.
  • Administer medications, injections, place and maintain nasogastric tube feeds, and provide wound care according to facility and state regulations.
  • May assist licensed provider with patient examinations and treatments by positioning, restraining patients, and assisting as directed.
  • Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Ensure that care reflects goals of patient outcome activities.
  • Contribute to individualized treatment plans in conjunction with the ERC multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in daily controlled substance count.
  • Aid in transition/transfer of patients to and from other units or facilities.
  • Collaborate with staff to assist with transportation arrangements for patient appointments outside of ERC.
  • Respond to emergency situations until emergency response team (911) arrives on scene.
