About The Position

Under the direction of the Nurse Practitioner and within established policies and procedures, assists the providers and other clinic team members as needed by helping to establish a friendly and safe environment, assisting in meeting the care needs of individuals and families seeking services, performing clinical duties, and carrying out administrative tasks while promoting the mission of GCHC. Performs administrative and medical support functions, many of which are confidential in nature. Responsible for supporting the delivery of appropriate, timely and beneficial care for patients, which promotes quality and cost-effective health care outcomes. Works within established standards for nursing and care management principles and practices. Actively supports and participates in quality improvement/assurance activities and projects. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • At least 2 years of professional, non-student LPN experience in a clinic or hospital setting
  • Life support for healthcare workers certified
  • Experience working with underserved and vulnerable populations
  • Familiarity with mental health, substance abuse problems and medical terminology
  • Keyboarding and computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, electronic medical/health records, and database management
  • Must be able to exert 20 pounds of force frequently and/or consistently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Must be able to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; pick, pinch, type or otherwise primarily with fingers.
  • Must be able to apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palms.
  • Must be able to raise objects horizontally from position to position.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Walking and standing also required.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and the use of a vehicle during work hours.
