Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) - Full Time Evenings/Nights
About The Position
NaphCare is hiring LPNs and LVNs to join our team of medical professionals at the Alabama Therapeutic Education Facility, located in Columbiana AL, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals in the Alabama Department of Corrections. This role involves working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence within a controlled environment where security is a top priority. The position offers diverse duties such as performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This is a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. New graduates are encouraged to apply as training will be provided in correctional healthcare.
Requirements
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Actively state certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
- Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
- Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Responsibilities
- Performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
- Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight
- Providing wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas
- Administering medication, including injections of medications and monitoring reaction to meds
- Maintaining medical records, including entering information into our electronic health record, TechCare
- Observing patient health and mental health status
- Providing emergency first aid
- Providing patient education and discharge/release planning
