About The Position

Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital, a UHS facility, is a 144-bed behavioral health facility providing inpatient services for adolescents, adults, and older adults, as well as behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. The hospital also offers programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care in accordance with nursing care plans and patients’ treatment plans. The LPN works with other personnel to maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu; assists with behavior management, crisis control, seclusion, and restraint under the direction of a registered nurse; and assists the RN with patient admissions and discharges. The role also includes administering medications and treatments, assisting with medication education and informed consent, monitoring medication effectiveness, and documenting medication and treatment administration according to policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate of an LPN nursing program.
• Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications, and their correct administration.
• Currently licensed to practice by the State of Michigan Board of Nursing.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of three years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility is preferred.
